How to use the Emoji Grid Generator
Five steps from blank grid to a finished design you can post or print.
-
1
Pick a grid sizeTap a preset like 16×16, or set custom rows and columns to match the shape you're going for — square, wide banner, or tall card.
-
2
Choose a toolPaint stamps your selected emoji, Erase clears a cell, Fill floods a connected block in one tap, and Pick lifts an emoji that's already on the grid so you can keep using it.
-
3
Select an emojiSearch by name or browse the categories in the sidebar. Your last 12 picks sit in "Recent" so you don't have to keep searching.
-
4
Build your patternTap individual cells, or click and drag (works on touchscreens too) to paint a whole stroke at once. Undo and redo cover every stroke, resize, and clear.
-
5
Export or copyDownload a PNG — transparent or with a background color you choose — or copy the grid as plain text to paste straight into a caption, chat, or document.

Build quick banners and invite art — "HBD", a cake, a diya — for birthdays, Diwali, Eid, or any celebration post.
🧒
Classroom & kids' activities
A screen-friendly way for kids to build patterns, letters, and shapes without needing real pixel-art software.
🪪
Bio & profile decoration
Design a small 3×3 or 4×4 grid to drop into an Instagram bio, pinned post, or link-in-bio page.
🎁
Gift tags & packaging
Lay out a repeatable emoji pattern for wrapping paper, gift tags, or thank-you cards before you print them.
🧩
Pixel-art practice
A low-stakes way to sketch pixel-art compositions, using emoji as ready-made "pixels" with built-in color.
FAQ
Does this save my work?Yes. Your grid saves automatically in your browser, so refreshing the page won't lose your design. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
Can I make a transparent PNG?Yes — turn on "Transparent" under Export background before downloading. Leave it off to bake in a solid background color instead.
Will copied text look the same when I paste it elsewhere? Most apps render emoji at a consistent width, but exact spacing can shift slightly depending on the font the destination app uses.
What's the largest grid I can make?40 × 40 cells. Larger grids take more taps to fill, so most patterns look best between 12×12 and 24×24.
Does this work on my phone?Yes — tap to place single emojis, or press and drag across cells to paint a stroke, the same as on desktop.
